A New Yorker is someone who sees the same things year after year — like a gorgeous, snow-covered Central Park — and still feels the excitement of experiencing it all for the first time.
“Quite simply, I was in love with New York. I do not mean ‘love’ in any colloquial way, I mean that I was in love with the city, the way you love the first person who ever touches you and you never love anyone quite that way again.” — Joan Didion
Beautiful Fall afternoon in Central Park! Beyond thankful for days like these.
I didn’t plan a visit to the Met today, but I was walking up 5th Avenue and into Central Park when I spotted a turquoise Sunday admission pin on the sidewalk. I know the museum is technically “pay what you wish” (they strongly suggest $25), but today I wished to pay zero and zip right in and spend the rest of the afternoon lost in one of my favorite places in the city.
Oh and then? Then I sprung for a membership because I really do love it there and I can’t go around picking up pins forever.
