A few weeks ago, I did some serious closet purging and managed to fill three huge bags full of purses, shoes, accessories and clothes that I have either a.) never worn, b.) not worn in over a year or, c.) completely and utterly ever regret buying. These over-stuffed bags have sat nicely in my room since I finished the purge, and I’ve been meaning to take them to Buffalo Exchange for quite some time.
So on Saturday, I decided - despite the effort, my slight hangover and hurricane-like winds - that it would be the perfect time to head to Brooklyn to sell my goods for hundreds and hundreds of dollars (HA!). I begged Whitney to accompany me on this journey, promising her an adventure and more importantly: lunch. But she very quickly regretted the tradeoff. We arrived at Buffalo only to find the line to sell went around the block. I had already spent $19 on a cab, so there really wasn’t an option to turn back. Not to mention we stood out like sore thumb in our leggings and Uggs among the sea of skinny jeans and plaid-wearing hipsters.
When we finally got the counter - TWO HOURS LATER - I piled my clean, namebrand, still tagged, good condition clothes and accessories on the table, and watched the lady slowly but surely tear my dreams apart. “A lot of these are last season.” Ummm. No shit. That’s why I’m selling them!! All you need to know is that I received a total of $16.50 for THREE items (a pair of Tod’s heels, Steve Maddens and a sweater), which didn’t even pay for the cab!!! And then I had to buy Whit dinner for waiting with me through that hell. So basically, I came out negative in this situation.
But I DID donate the rest of my clothes to the Salvation Army, which is that hot mess of a place pictured above.
