I began closet-purging for the Big Move Across the Island tonight (which is two weeks away!!), and in the process, I discovered that I own SIXTEEN different pairs of BLACK HEELS. This doesn’t include shoes of any other color or style or type — just. black. heels. Sure, there’s a variety of peep-toes and Mary Jane’s and patent pumps, but essentially, many of them are almost identical.

My mom has discouraged habits like this for quite some time, but because I am neglectful and because my room is constantly cluttered and unorganized, I never take inventory of what I own…usually leading to an overstuffed closet and an unimpressive bank account.

There’s really no excuse and I’m honestly appalled at the way I’ve spent my money over the last two and a half years. But I believe this move  — more than anything — is the perfect incentive to get rid of all the clutter, keep it simple and start living smart.

Otherwise, I might have to live in my shoe boxes.
