Newcomers Adjust, Eventually, to New York →
Emma sent me this article this morning, assuming I had already read it (I hadn’t), about twentysomethings moving to NYC and either falling in love and becoming true New Yorkers, or feeling completely overwhelmed/dissatisfied. It took some time for me to settle in, but never, even through the minor expected struggles, did I ever want to leave. This quote sums up my affair with the city quite...
I realize that I am not the likeliest candidate for this office. I don’t fit the...

OMG DNC!
Watching the DNC coverage has reignited a political spark that I thought I lost after 2004. The poignant, inspirational speeches from all of these democrats that I have consistently supported and admired (especially Bill & Hill) have made me really pumped about politics again! That current idiot in the white house left me feeling hopeless/helpless all these years, but I feel good about what is...

two simultaneous lives
“New York is all about what could be,” says David Cloyd, a 34-year-old musician who moved to the city from Austin ten years ago. “You know: The potential. The possibilities.” He’s echoing, of course, the aspirational mantra that’s lured a million hopeful dreamers to New York before him. And in exchange for this promise of limitless possibility, this tantalizing what-could-be, New York...

– Michelle Obama @ the DNC tonight. Sincere, incredible, inspirational. The words of a true (potential) first lady. Amazing full speech here.

“You know this is what I’ve always liked about New York…these little moments on the sidewalks. You can watch the buildings, feel the air, look at the people. And sometimes meet someone you feel like you can talk to…”
Very much looking forward to New York, I Love You!
sunday night blues
Ugh. Sunday evenings are depressing. With the carefree weekend fun over and Monday on the horizon, it’s hard not to feel gloomy/lethargic/uninspired. I think this is why I never go to bed before 3AM on Sunday nights…I just don’t want it to end.

veggie tales.
Lentils and spinach and fake meat, oh my! It’s official: I’ve been a VEGETARIAN for an entire week now. I decided to nix my carnivorous ways solely as a challenge to myself. It’s been slightly more difficult than I thought it would be, but I’ve managed to find a variety of substitutes and protein alternatives to hold me over. Vegetables haven’t always been on the top...

Michael: Cleaned out all the Seamless Web bags from my room.

I wish I spent half as much time WRITING as I do googling, facebooking, downloading and emailing. Is it naive to consider myself a writer if I can’t even focus my attention on words that aren’t related to work or google searches?
It’s 3AM. Can’t sleep.
