mini diets/goals.
In hopes of finding some clarity, I’ve decided to use this week to engage in some small feats that I think will make a huge difference in my overall quality of life. I’ve made a list of several goals that I’d like to explore and attempt over the next 5 days. And by publicizing these personal objectives, I’m hoping to be more inclined to actually follow through.They...

Today was the perfect kind of Sunday. I slept til noon. Woke up with a slightly less intense hangover than expected. Got Starbucks. Met Jess at the Angelika to see The Wackness (which was AMAZING, btw - more later). Had a late lunch at an adorable little mexican cafe in the West Village. Spent the afternoon with Jess admiring gorgeous brownstones and contemplating life. Walked 458347578634 miles....

who am i?
I would just like the entire world few people that read my blog to know that I woke up at 8AM this morning. On a Saturday. And went to the gym. For 90 minutes. This is what being sober on a Friday night will do to ya. And I kind of like it. (gasp!) The agenda for the rest of the day includes: coffee, Wall-E with JBun and Whit, possibly sneaking in to another movie (rebels!), a nap, dinner at Boat...

Sigh.
I returned $74 worth of clothes this afternoon with the intentions of buying NOTHING ELSE (a feat in itself). But I should have known better. Sigh. I only bought flip-flops. And another dress. And a top. And a scarf. BUT THEY WERE ALL NECESSARY. Did I mention how much I LOVE shirt dresses?! I don’t want summer to end.

Me: [reading a gossip blog] Did you know Lindsay Lohan has a girlfriend?
Michael: No, I didn't! When did that happen?
Me: People have been making a big deal out of it for the past month or so.
Michael: Hmm. Has this made her more popular? Or less popular?
Me: I'd say it's pretty equal.
Michael: OMG - it's what we've always wanted for the gays! Equality! [dances]

legally blonde.
The finale of Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods premiered tonight on MTV, and - embarrassingly - it made me all warm & fuzzy inside after they announced the winner. The show has been a guilty pleasure the entire season - mainly because this was one of MTV’s better interpretations of what reality TV could be: optimistic, genuine, inspirational. And it made me want my name in...

and I’m still wide awake. I don’t know if it’s the excitement from a sudden inspiration today to start writing my Great American Novel for the 458935th time. Or if it’s the violent/thrilling/intense scenes from The Dark Knight that keep replaying over and over in my head. Or if the barista at Starbucks forgot to make my 6PM grande iced skinny vanilla latte a DECAF like I...

Houston, New York Has a Problem →
“The Southern city welcomes the middle class; heavily regulated and expensive Gotham drives it away.” Just thought this article comparing the growth of Houston and New York was interesting and quite relative. I already knew that if I was making my current salary back home in Houston, I could live like a queen - spacious low-rent apartment, nice car, justified shopping sprees. Here, my...
